Dr. Wanda Bulger-Tamez is the Director for the STEM Outreach Center. Dr. Bulger-Tamez has been working with math and science initiatives for 20+ years. She has taught elementary, middle school, developmental Algebra, and Math for Elementary Teachers at the university level. She has served as principal investigator for Mathematically Connected Communities and MC2 LIFT, Project Director for the Gadsden Math Initiative, Project Coordinator for the Austin Collaborative for Math Education, both of which were Local Systemic Initiatives, and served on the Advisory Board of the NSF Discovery Research K-12 program, Teachers’ Use of Standards-based Instructional Materials. Her roles and responsibilities include overseeing contracts, proposals, personnel, and budgets for all programs. Wanda is masterful at nourishing partnerships and loves working along side teachers and school leaders to create systems for strengthening children’s learning in STEM field.

Teresa Sainz has K-12 teaching experience in New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado. She has also served as a school and district-level administrator. Terri manages the websites for Mathematically Connected Communities (MC²) and the STEM Outreach Center. In addition, she coordinates professional learning events, online meetings, webinar/video productions, and presentations/ publications. Her role is essential in providing network opportunities for teachers and school leaders.

Ruth Torres Castillo, Website Administrator

Ruth Torres earned her Ph. D. with a concentration in Curriculum & Instruction and Computer Science at NMSU. Most recently, she's been working as a post doctoral researcher on the NSF-funded Math Snacks Early Algebra series of games, particularly on ways to use them with teachers as the main facilitators in the classroom. Ruth will also start helping to manage the websites for Mathematically Connected Communities (MC²) and the STEM Outreach Center.
