| Thematic teaching is interdisciplinary teaching that organizes instruction around, and delivers curriculum through, the exploration of major issues. For example, student and teacher interest in an upcoming election provide a theme within which students can explore social sciences and mathematics. Mathematically, the theme of a presidential election can motivate studies of sampling, polling, and the centuries-old issues of censuses and the apportioning of votes in the Electoral College. | |
| The Great Chile Challenge is a thematic unit which demonstrates how math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts learning can be enhanced by providing a culturally relevant topic. | |
