Explorations are professional development
materials developed for and with MathStar teachers.
These professional development modules are designed
to use advanced technologies to provide
professional development to mathematics teachers in
remote locations as well as make support materials
easily available via the web to all teachers.
The First Exploration: Implementing Standards-based Instruction in the Mathematics Classroom. This first professional development module is designed to accompany the first student investigation: Math in Our Communities. It includes an introduction to standards-based instruction, curriculum and technical resources for teachers to assist them in implementing the student investigation, and specific teacher professional development activities and tasks. There are several levels included in this first exploration. Each level is introduced with a guiding question, a scenario and an intended teacher product. Teachers are provided with specific tasks and resources that will help them meet the goal of each level. Click on the buttons at right to find out more. |
