General MC2 Summer Mathematics
Academy Information

  • Overview: Professional Development at MC2 Summer Mathematics Academies
    • Increases understanding of state standards,
    • Builds mathematics content knowledge,
    • Supports quality mathematics learning for ALL students, and
    • Incorporates the Common Core State Standards.
    Teachers also develop instructional strategies and understanding of effective implementation of standards-based mathematics curricula. The middle school textbook focus will be Connected Mathematics 2, while the high school textbook focus will be on the Discovering, Interactive Mathematics Program, SIMMS and/or Math Connections series. The K-5 textbook focus will be Investigations.

    In addition, MC2 provides districts with leadership development in mathematics. The training is conducted at specified academies and throughout the year for district leadership teams (includes lead teachers, principals, counselors, and district administrators) to experience problem-based mathematics and to help increase their effectiveness in building a better math program.
